For the Military to obtain blood from the Red Cross, it has to buy that blood from them. Until recently, only military, or former military members, could donate blood to the Military blood drives, and that left the supply very thin. In just the past year, the government changed that ruling, and now anyone can donate blood to the military blood program. The agency that does this collection for the Military is called the ASBP (Armed Services Blood Program).
If any of you would like to check to see if you QUALIFY to donate to this program, you can go to:

As a veteran of 26 years and a member of the DAV, VFW and the American Legion, the American Legion is sponsoring this blood drive. It is scheduled for JULY 24th, Saturday. There will be real food and refreshments, and the ASBP people normally have a gift for all who donate.
IT IS TIME TO REGISTER FOR THE BLOOD DRIVE IN JULY, BUT YOU CAN ALSO DONATE JUST BY SHOWING UP AT THE LOCATION BETWEEN 9AM & 2PM . The blood is drawn at the US Army Reserve Center on Yearling Road, which is just a couple blocks North of Broad Street at 165 North Yearling Road in Whitehall. Please see the map below for exact location.
COME AND HELP US MEET OR EXCEED OUR QUOTA!!! Those who normally have low iron should eat red meat the evening before and a small box of raisins the morning of donation. That will raise your iron to an acceptable level to donate.
Here is a map to the donor site. It is in Whitehall, just off Broad Street. Turn North on Yearling Road and approximately 2 city blocks and it is on the West side of Yearling Road. The entrance door is on the back side of the building across from the parking lot. Doors open at 9:00am and close at 2:00pm or when they run out of donors. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT ANYTHING ELSE WE DO FOR OUR SOLDIERS MEANS NOTHING IF THEY CANNOT RETURN TO US. THIS BLOOD WILL GIVE THEM
A FIGHTING CHANCE TO COME BACK TO US. PLEASE RSVP ON FACEBOOK AND THEN GO DONATE!!!
Any income derived from this link will go to the American Legion for their dedication to the Armed Services Blood Program in Columbus, Ohio.
